Placements24 is seeking a Lead Urban Planner in George, Western Cape. The role focuses on sustainable growth, community engagement, and resilient infrastructure, guiding complex projects and mentoring a team of planners.

The candidate will liaise with local authorities and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with SPLUMA and related policy frameworks, and will influence development in George and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, or related field from an accredited university.
• Minimum 10 years progressive planning experience, with at least 3 years in leadership or senior capacity.
• Registration with the South African Planning Institute (SAPI) or eligibility for professional certification is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multi-disciplinary planning teams on a variety of projects.
• Develop and implement comprehensive urban and regional plans, policies, and strategies.
• Conduct spatial analysis, site assessments, and feasibility studies.
• Facilitate community consultations and stakeholder engagement processes.
• Prepare and present planning reports, impact assessments, and development proposals.
• Advise local government and private developers on planning matters and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor development trends and best practices in urban planning locally and globally.
