Placements24 is seeking a Senior Urban Planner for its Benoni, Gauteng office to drive spatial plans, land use management, and development proposals. You will liaise with authorities, developers, and communities to deliver sustainable urban outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning, SACPLAN registration, 7+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of SPLUMA, with GIS proficiency and excellent stakeholder skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning.
• SACPLAN professional registration.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant urban planning experience with land use management.
• Strong knowledge of SPLUMA and planning legislation.
• Experience presenting planning applications and reports.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
• Ability to manage project timelines and deliverables.
• Proficiency in GIS software is highly desirable.
• Experience in Benoni/Gauteng municipal context is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of spatial plans, land use apps, and proposals.
• Research demographic trends, environmental factors, and economic opportunities.
• Facilitate public participation and stakeholder engagement sessions.
• Advise on planning legislation, policies, and development controls.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and environmental scientists.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and submissions for tribunals/local authorities.
• Contribute to strategic planning initiatives and policy development.
• Mentor junior planners and support their development.
• Ensure compliance with NEMA and related legislation.
