The Senior Specialist Underwriter: Bryte Specialist Motor is responsible for underwriting new and existing business within delegated authority limits to achieve profitable growth, retention, and underwriting performance objectives. The role provides specialist technical expertise, supports complex underwriting decisions, and delivers high-quality service to brokers and customers.

Key responsibilities include

• Underwriting complex Transporters and Logistic and Motor Traders risks within delegated authority.
• Managing technical referrals and underwriting decisions.
• Monitoring Fleets and Aggregate Motor Policies.
• Reviewing survey reports and recommending risk mitigation measures.
• Supporting reinsurance referrals and placements where required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Sound understanding of the South African insurance and reinsurance market.

Skills

• Specialist underwriting expertise in Motor Traders risks, including vehicle stock, demonstration vehicles, road risks, premises exposure, liability, and related commercial motor risks, motor fleets and aggregate motor policies.
• Ability to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions within delegated authority.
• Ability to interpret survey reports and implement appropriate risk improvement measures.
• Experience applying underwriting terms, conditions, warranties, endorsements, and deductibles.
• Understanding of reinsurance principles and referral requirements.
• Ability to manage technical referrals and prepare well-supported underwriting recommendations.
• Experience providing technical input on policy wording and claims interpretation.
