Job summary

Fusion Personnel is seeking a qualified Diesel Mechanic to service and repair underground mining equipment in Gauteng. The role requires extensive hands-on experience, a high safety standard, and the ability to work under pressure.

You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults, perform scheduled servicing, and assist the maintenance team to maximise equipment availability. A Red Seal is preferred, a valid driver’s licence and own transport are required.

Qualifications

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic with Red Seal preferred.
• Minimum 45 years' experience on underground mining equipment.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing faults on underground machinery.
• Valid driver's licence and own transport required.
• Able to work independently and under pressure.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults on underground mining equipment.
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Carry out breakdown repairs to minimise equipment downtime.
• Conduct inspections and identify potential mechanical issues.
• Complete job cards and maintenance reports accurately.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety standards and company procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure maximum equipment availability.
