Placements24 is assisting a leader in high-performance thermal management solutions for advanced electronics to find a Senior Mechanical Thermal Engineer for a fully remote role.

The ideal candidate will design, analyze, and validate thermal management systems for complex devices, collaborate with global hardware and product teams, and mentor junior engineers while advancing state-of-the-art cooling technologies.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Heat Transfer or Thermodynamics.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical thermal design and analysis.
• Expert proficiency in thermal simulation software (e.g., ANSYS Icepak, COMSOL, FloTHERM).
• Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
• Experience with thermal test equipment and data acquisition systems.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage complex thermal projects in a remote setting.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with electronics cooling applications is highly desirable.
• Must be eligible to work remotely from the Klerksdorp, North West region.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced thermal management solutions, including heat sinks, fans, heat pipes, and liquid cooling systems.
• Perform detailed thermal analysis using FEA and CFD software to predict temperature distributions and heat flux.
• Validate simulation results through hands-on testing and measurement of prototypes.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical and electrical design teams to integrate thermal solutions into product designs.
• Identify and resolve thermal issues that may impact product performance, reliability, and lifespan.
• Develop thermal test plans and procedures; conduct thermal testing and characterization.
• Create comprehensive thermal analysis reports and present findings to engineering and management teams.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in thermal management technologies and simulation techniques.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of best practices in thermal engineering.
