Job summary

Talent Candey's client in Durban is seeking a Senior Merchandiser (Textile) to support the Key Account Manager in managing and growing key retail accounts. The role focuses on product costings, pricing, profit margins, buyer relationships, product development and end-to-end order management.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in merchandising or product development within textiles/home textiles/linen.
• Proven experience with chain-store buyers and key retail accounts.
• Experience with costing, pricing and margins.
• Understanding of fabrics and textile manufacturing processes.
• Experience coordinating product development, sampling and order fulfilment.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across departments.
• Advanced Excel skills for costing and reporting.
• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Diploma or Degree in Sales/Marketing/Textile Merchandising or related field advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Product Costing, Pricing & Margin Management: prepare and manage detailed product costings, calculate fabric/material costs and determine selling prices.
• Key Account & Buyer Relationship Management: support relationships with major retail stores, attend meetings, translate briefs into commercial solutions, present proposals, and negotiate where needed.
• Product Development & Merchandising: coordinate new products, communicate requirements to internal teams, liaise with sourcing and fabric teams, manage samples and approvals.
• Order Management & Production Coordination: manage the full order lifecycle, monitor production schedules and ensure on-time delivery across departments.
