Placements24 is seeking a Senior Technical Support Engineer for our client in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. The role combines on-site and remote work to support advanced network infrastructure.

You will diagnose, resolve, and optimize complex network issues, mentor junior staff, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure service reliability. A strong background in TCP/IP, routing, security and vendor hardware is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in senior technical support or network engineering with a focus on support
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing (OSPF, BGP), switching, and network security principles
• Hands-on experience with major vendors’ network hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Huawei)
• Proficiency with network troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, Ping, Traceroute)
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are desirable
• Experience in hybrid IT support environments in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced technical support for network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex network connectivity, performance, and security issues.
• Implement, configure, and manage network devices and services.
• Develop and maintain network documentation including diagrams, configurations and procedures.
• Respond to and resolve escalated technical incidents within defined SLAs.
• Monitor network performance and proactively identify and address potential issues.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on network design, upgrades, and deployments.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior support staff.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency network support.

Key Responsibilities
