A prominent financial institution in Cape Town is seeking a distinguished Lead Project Manager to drive technology initiatives and ensure successful delivery across the IT portfolio. You will mentor a team of project managers, partner with senior stakeholders, and steer complex programs in a regulatory-aware environment.

The role requires a master’s degree, 10+ years in project management with at least 6 in leadership within financial services, and proven experience delivering core banking,

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in project management, with at least 6 years in a leadership role within financial services.
• Experience managing large IT projects including core banking, digital platforms, and regulatory initiatives.
• Knowledge of POPIA and FICA and their impact on IT projects.
• Expertise in Agile and Waterfall methodologies with ability to adapt.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and oversight for technology-related projects within the financial services division.
• Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure successful delivery.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project managers and coordinators.
• Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and technology partners.
• Oversee implementation of new financial systems, software upgrades, and IT infrastructure projects.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and industry best practices across projects.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Facilitate effective communication between project teams and senior management.
• Drive continuous improvement in project management processes and methodologies.
• Champion innovation and operational excellence within the PMO.
