Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly experienced Senior Tax Accountant to lead the tax function, operating remotely from anywhere in South Africa. The role covers corporate tax compliance, planning, and strategy, delivering expert advice and mitigating tax risks in a remote setting.

You will manage all tax filings, stay ahead of legislation changes, and provide strategic input to management while ensuring IFRS-aligned tax accounting and effective tax optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CA(SA) or CTA is essential.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in corporate tax with SA tax law focus.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS and tax accounting principles.
• Experience in tax planning, compliance, and controversy management.
• Ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review all corporate tax returns and related filings for SARS submission.
• Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities while ensuring compliance.
• Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation and assess impact on the business.
• Manage tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Provide expert tax advice to management and other departments on business decisions.
• Ensure accurate accounting for income taxes in financial statements.
