• Strong Linux and Windows Server knowledge.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V).
• Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs).
• Familiar with Docker and Kubernetes; monitoring tools expertise.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding digital services firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Administrator with a strong focus on cloud environments to join their fully remote team. This position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa, contributing to a dynamic and distributed workforce. You will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of our systems. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), scripting capabilities, and a deep understanding of system administration best practices. Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Deploy, configure, and manage servers, storage, and network resources in cloud environments.
• Implement and manage system monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
• Automate system administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Ensure the security and integrity of cloud systems and data.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Perform regular system updates, patches, and performance tuning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system hardware, software, and network issues.
• Develop and maintain system documentation and procedures.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution.
• Collaborate with development teams to support application deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Systems Administrator, with a significant portion focused on cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
• Strong understanding of operating systems (Linux and Windows Server).
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs).
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills for a remote role.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.
