Placements24 is seeking a Senior Supply Chain Industrial Engineer in Richards Bay to lead end-to-end optimization across sourcing, logistics and distribution. The role leverages data analytics and advanced modeling to deliver resilient, cost-efficient and high-service supply chains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 7+ years in industrial engineering with a focus on supply chain.
• Proven expertise in network design, inventory optimization, and logistics.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in modeling and simulation tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and map current supply chain processes for efficiency and cost improvements.
• Develop and implement optimization initiatives including network design and inventory strategies.

About the Role

Our client, a major player in the petrochemical and industrial sector, is looking for a highly experienced Senior Supply Chain Industrial Engineer to join their strategic operations team in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal . This position is vital for optimizing the end-to-end supply chain, from raw material sourcing and logistics to final product distribution. The role requires a deep understanding of industrial engineering principles applied to complex supply chain networks, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving service levels. The successful candidate will drive initiatives that leverage data analytics and advanced modeling to create resilient and agile supply chain solutions in a demanding industrial environment. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and map current supply chain processes, identifying areas for improvement in efficiency, cost, and lead times.
• Develop and implement strategic supply chain optimization initiatives, including network design, inventory management, and transportation strategies.
• Utilize industrial engineering techniques, such as simulation and statistical analysis, to model and test supply chain scenarios.
• Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and sales departments to ensure integrated supply chain operations.
• Implement and manage performance metrics (KPIs) to monitor supply chain health and identify deviations.
• Lead cross-functional projects focused on enhancing supply chain visibility, risk management, and sustainability.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
• Introduce and leverage technology solutions to improve supply chain planning, execution, and visibility.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and safety standards within the supply chain operations.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior supply chain personnel and operational teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering with a strong focus on supply chain management.
• Proven expertise in supply chain network design, inventory optimization, and logistics management.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in advanced modeling and simulation tools (e.g., Llamasoft, AnyLogic).
• Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau).
• In-depth knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and their application to supply chains.
• Excellent project management skills and a track record of successfully delivering complex initiatives.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) processes.
• Familiarity with international trade regulations and customs procedures is a plus.
