Placements24 is seeking a Senior Subsurface Geologist for a fully remote role anchored in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, SA. The role focuses on detailed subsurface analysis, geological modeling, and prospect evaluation within a globally distributed team.

The candidate will integrate core data, logs, and seismic information to build 3D models, assess exploration opportunities, and de-risk ventures. Strong independence, remote collaboration, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in subsurface geology within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix, Paradigm).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
• Proven experience in integrating diverse subsurface datasets.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage workload effectively remotely.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for virtual collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed geological interpretations of core data, well logs, and seismic information.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models incorporating structural and stratigraphic elements.
• Evaluate exploration and appraisal opportunities, assessing potential reserves and risks.
• Integrate geological data with geophysical and engineering information for a holistic subsurface view.
• Conduct geological risk assessments and contribute to prospect maturation.
• Prepare comprehensive geological reports and present findings to technical teams and management.
• Collaborate effectively with geoscientists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams in a virtual setting.
• Mentor junior geologists and foster best practices in geological analysis.
• Stay updated on advancements in geological software and subsurface characterization techniques.
• Assist in the planning and review of geological aspects of drilling programs.
