Job summary

Lukhozi Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town is seeking a Senior Professional Structural Engineer or Technologist to join its structural team. The role requires ECSA registration, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and at least 10 years’ post-registration experience in design, contract administration, and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with emphasis on structural engineering
• ECSA registration as Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist
• 10+ years' post-registration experience in planning, design and contract administration of building/engineering projects
• Strong background in design of water/structural infrastructure is advantageous
• Experience leading design teams and delivering high-quality calculations, drawings, schedules and reports
• Strong knowledge of design codes and standards
• Proficiency in Master Series or Prokon, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
• Experience with BIM tools ACC Docs/ACC Build, Revit and AutoCAD

Responsibilities

• Plan, design and contract administer projects from inception to completion
• Prepare engineering calculations and project specifications
• Lead internal project teams and mentor junior staff
• Prepare tender documents and project reports (inception, design, progress, close-out)
• Carry out structural condition assessments and on-site contract administration
• Coordinate site meetings and minutes; communicate with professionals and clients
• Manage resources and workload within the structural department
• Mentor candidate engineers and technologists; contribute to business development
