Job summary

Lukhozi Consulting Engineers in Cape Town seeks a Senior Professional Structural Engineer or Technologist to lead design, contract administration and project delivery for building and engineering projects.

Applicants should have a structural engineering degree and ECSA registration, with a minimum of 10 years post-registration experience. Proficiency in BIM (ACCDocs/ACC Build, Revit, AutoCAD) and strong client leadership are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with emphasis on structural engineering.
• Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist.
• At least 10 years’ post-registration experience in planning, design and contract administration of building and engineering projects.
• Strong background in design of bulk water reservoirs, water treatment works, stormwater infrastructure and related structures.
• Experience managing design teams and delivering high-quality design calculations, drawings and reports on time and within budget.
• Knowledge of design engineering codes and standards; proficiency with BIM software (ACCDocs/ACC Build, Revit, AutoCAD).
• Client-focused, able to take ownership of projects and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design and manage contracts for engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Prepare engineering calculations and project/technical specifications.
• Lead internal teams of designers and drafters; mentor engineers and technologists.
• Develop cost estimates and review deliverables for quality assurance.
• Prepare tender documents and project reports (inception, viability, design, progress, close-out).
• Coordinate site meetings and resolve technical queries; maintain client communications.
• Oversee safety and environmental considerations on construction sites.
