Job Description
Lukhozi ConsultingEngineers is recruiting a Senior Professional Structural Engineer or Technologist for itsoffice in Cape Town.
The salary will bemarket related and dependant on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

- Planning, design and contract administration of engineering andbuilding projects from inception to completion.
- Prepare engineering calculations.
- Prepare project and technical specifications.
- Must be able to work independently as well as leading an internalproject team of designers and draughtspersons.
- Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates.
- Assist with managing and quality checking deliverables.
- Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior andintermediate engineers and play an active role in the continuing professionaldevelopment of unregistered technical staff.
- Preparation of tender documents.
- Preparation of reports (Project Inception, Concept and Viability,Design, tender evaluation, progress, financial, close-out, etc).
- Carry out structural condition assessments and report writing.
- Day-to day contract administration and management of the structuralworks of building and engineering projects.
- Handling of technical queries and resolutions and leading Site andTechnical Meetings on site, including the taking of minutes.
- Communicate frequently with all professionals and clients.
- Handling of technical queries and dispute resolutions in conjunctionwith others.
- Assist with project safety and environmental matters duringconstruction.
- General office and projectrelated admin.
- Managementof resources within the structural department.
- Planning andscheduling workload against the available resources.
- Reviewingand approving work developed by resources.
- Mentoringcandidate engineers and technologists.

Requirements
- At least a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with emphasis onstructural engineering.
- Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Professional EngineeringTechnologist.
- At least 10 years’ verifiable post-registration experience inthe planning,design and contract administration of building and engineering projects frominception to completion.
- A strong background in the design of bulk waterreservoirs, water treatment works, stormwater management infrastructure, waterretaining structures, reinforced concrete framed structures and steel framedstructures will be advantageous.
- Experience with managing design teams, to complete tasks and producehigh quality deliverables such as design calculations, drawings, schedules, andreports on time and within budget.
- Strong understanding of design engineering codes and technicalstandards.
- Proficient in the use of Master Series or Prokon, MicrosoftOffice Suite and Microsoft Project.
- Experience inthe use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, in particular ACCDocs and ACC Build, Revit and AutoCAD, will be advantageous.
- Must have a strong client focus.
- Must takeownership of projects.
- Must be an effective communicator (personal, phone, writing, email;etc);
