WBHO Construction in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, seeks a Structural Design Engineer to lead the design and analysis of structural systems for diverse construction projects, translating architectural concepts into safe, cost-effective structures. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and ensure code-compliant designs.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Civil/Structural Engineering, 5–7 years’ experience, and strong proficiency in BIM/CAD tools, with ECSA registration desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 5–7 years of proven structural design experience.
• Professional registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Experience with large-scale projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed structural designs using BIM and CAD tools.
• Perform load calculations, finite element analysis, and design checks per SANS and international codes.
• Prepare design reports, drawings, and specifications for client review and approvals.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and construction managers to resolve design conflicts.
• Conduct site visits to verify design implementation and support construction.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns to promote knowledge transfer.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of decisions, revisions, and compliance.
• Contribute to value engineering and sustainability assessments.
