You will lead strategic planning, budget oversight, and a team of facility staff while coordinating with external partners and stakeholders to deliver exceptional sports experiences.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in sports facility management or a similar operations role.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent organisation within the Leisure & Sports sector, is seeking an accomplished and dynamic Senior Sports Facilities Manager to oversee their flagship venue in Vereeniging, Gauteng. This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring the optimal operation, maintenance, and development of state-of-the-art sports facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of operational expertise, strategic planning capabilities, and a deep understanding of sports venue management. You will be instrumental in maintaining the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and guest experience, contributing directly to the success and reputation of our client's operations in Vereeniging.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans for the efficient operation and maintenance of all sports facilities.
• Oversee the daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation for facility usage.
• Manage budgets, control expenditures, and ensure financial targets are met or exceeded.
• Implement and enforce stringent health, safety, and security protocols to ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors.
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for maintenance, repairs, and facility upgrades.
• Plan and execute special events, tournaments, and community programs, ensuring seamless logistical support.
• Conduct regular facility inspections, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary upgrades or renovations.
• Manage and mentor a team of facility staff, fostering a culture of high performance and excellent customer service.
• Maintain strong relationships with sports clubs, governing bodies, and community stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and licensing requirements.

Requirements

• Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in sports facility management or a similar operational management role.
• Demonstrable experience in budget management and financial oversight.
• In-depth knowledge of sports facility operations, maintenance best practices, and safety standards.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in using facility management software and standard office applications.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Sports Management, Facility Management, or a related field is highly desirable.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by facility events.
• A passion for sports and a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Vereeniging, Gauteng.
