Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Event Operations Manager for Centurion, Gauteng. You will lead planning and execution of operational elements for a portfolio of sports events, coordinating with security, medical, and service providers to ensure safe and seamless experiences for athletes, spectators, and sponsors.

You will manage budgets, vendor contracts, and staffing while maintaining strict timelines and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in event operations, preferably within the sports or entertainment industry.
• Experience managing multiple large-scale events simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of logistical planning, risk management, and emergency procedures.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Proficiency in project management software and event management tools.
• Ability to work under pressure and travel, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the planning and execution of all operational elements for assigned sports events.
• Develop detailed operational plans, including site layouts, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of services and equipment.
• Coordinate with security, medical, and emergency services to ensure safety of participants and attendees.
• Supervise on-site operations during events, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
• Manage event budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Liaise with internal departments, including marketing, sponsorship, and participant services.
• Conduct post-event evaluations, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with regulations, permits, and licenses.
• Manage and motivate event staff and volunteers to ensure high performance.
