Job summary

MOTUS MULTIFRANCHISE ROODEPOORT has an opportunity for a Senior Specialist: Master Technician. Responsible to assess/ diagnose and repair vehicle faults and conduct services and maintenance to OEM standards.

Deliver high quality technical expertise to satisfy customers and honour organizational service delivery values, and to do so efficiently and productively. Test drive vehicles, liaise with service advisors, and provide accurate estimates while performing maintenance and repairs to OEM

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience as a qualified technician – highly desired.
• Qualified as a Renault Automotive Master Technician is a minimum requirement.
• Valid, unendorsed driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Capable of performing the physical requirements/ demands and stamina associated with the role such as frequently handling heavy equipment; standing for long periods; bending or twisting; working in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Test drive vehicles to assess the work done and for diagnosis of issues customers bring vehicles in for.
• Move between Workshop, Service Advisors and Parts to generate quotes for repairs.
• Discuss repair orders with service advisors and customers and provide explanations.
• Provide accurate diagnosis for cost, time, and effort estimates for repairs.
• Carry out maintenance, repair and diagnostic work as instructed, on vehicle hoists or repair bays.
• Operate diagnostic equipment correctly for vehicle diagnosis and repair.
• Ensure work complies with OEM and warranty requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment and timely completion of training.

Responsible to assess/ diagnose and repair vehicle faults and conduct services and maintenance to vehicles according to prescribed OEM standards.

Deliver high quality technical expertise to satisfy customers and honour organizational service delivery values, and to do so efficiently and productively.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Test drive vehicles to assess the work done and for diagnosis of issues customers bring vehicles in for.
• Move frequently (walking/ climbing stairs) between the Workshop, Service Advisors and Parts department in order to generate quotes for repairs.
• Discuss repair orders with service advisors and customers as required and provide coherent explanations.
• Provide accurate diagnosis in order for estimates (cost, time, effort) for repairs to be correct.
• Carry out allocated maintenance, repair and diagnostic work as instructed. Working in a standing position with a vehicle overhead on a hoist or working in a bent position with a vehicle in a repair bay.
• Performing tasks such as replacing oil or lubricating equipment; inspecting, replacing and/or repairing damaged and malfunctioning parts. Repairs can include removal and refitment of a gearbox or engine, or removal and refitment of wheels when brakes need to be replaced.
• Use diagnostic equipment correctly for vehicle diagnosis and repair.
• Perform all duties in line with OEM and warranty requirements.
• Ensure diagnosis leads to most cost-effective and accurate remedy to fault or customer complaint.
• Take steps to ensure service and maintenance of vehicles remains within the targeted percentages of the manufacturers' time.
• Ensure vehicles are returned to the customer after service/ repair in a neat, clean and safe condition.
• Produce legible and accurate paperwork, job cards etc reflecting the work performed.
• Provide advice and support to other mechanics on technical matters.
• Ensure effective communication with staff, across departments, with customers and service providers.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Successfully and timeously complete all required OEM and other training considered relevant.

• Capable of performing the physical requirements/ demands and stamina associated with the role such as frequently handling heavy equipment & machinery; using their hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; standing for long periods of time; bending or twisting the body; repetition of movements; kneeling, stooping, crouching, working in confined spaces to inspect, test and repair vehicle components.
• Competent at operating manufacturer diagnostic equipment in order to access information required to perform the role and complete duties associated with the role.
