Job summary

The role covers frontend and backend testing, API validation, and CI/CD support within modern DevOps and cloud contexts. You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements across projects.

Qualifications

Overview

Software Quality Engineer (multiple roles) – Location: Cape Town (Onsite). Industry: Technology / Software Development. A leading organisation is seeking multiple experienced Software Quality Engineers to drive quality assurance across complex development environments. These roles are ideal for technically strong QA professionals who can lead testing initiatives, build automation frameworks, and collaborate closely with engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for driving quality assurance practices across the full software development lifecycle, ensuring robust, scalable, and high-performing solutions.

• Driving QA strategies, frameworks, and best practices across development teams
• Ensuring business and technical requirements are testable and clearly defined
• Monitoring and improving quality delivery across multiple projects
• Designing, building, and maintaining test automation frameworks
• Supporting both backend and frontend testing across systems
• Performing API and interface testing across integrated platforms
• Driving innovation in:
  • Test automation
  • Performance testing
  • Security testing
• Collaborating closely with developers, architects, and business stakeholders
• Engaging across the full SDLC to ensure quality at every stage
• Supporting and enhancing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Contributing to continuous improvement of testing processes and tools
• Mentoring junior and intermediate engineers and supporting team capability growth

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Key requirements:

• Strong experience in software quality engineering or test automation roles
• Proven ability to design and implement automation frameworks
• Experience with both frontend and backend testing
• Strong API and integration testing capability
• Experience with:
  • CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)
  • Containerisation and DevOps environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Exposure to performance and security testing tools (advantageous), such as:
  • K6, JMeter, LoadRunner
  • OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite
