Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a visionary Lead Software Architect to guide technical strategy for core platforms in George. This senior role defines architectural blueprints, standards, and long-term viability of systems while driving innovation across the Western Cape IT landscape.

You will lead architecture for microservices, APIs, data models, and integration strategies, mentoring teams and collaborating with product and operations to deliver scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years in software development with at least 4 years as a Software Architect.
• Experience designing large-scale distributed, resilient systems.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, C# and patterns like Microservices and EDA.
• Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong communication, leadership and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

• Define and document the overall software architecture, including microservices, APIs, data models, and integration strategies.
• Lead the technical design and development of major software initiatives aligned with business goals.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance the SDLC and platforms.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, promoting best practices.
• Establish and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and guidelines.
• Collaborate with product management and operations to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
