Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Social Worker for our Pretoria, Gauteng office to provide comprehensive case management and therapeutic interventions for vulnerable children and families. The role involves assessing needs, developing intervention plans, and coordinating services to safeguard children’s welfare.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in Social Work, SACSSP registration, and at least 6 years of post-qualification experience in child protection or family services.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
• Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience in child protection, family services, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of children and families to identify needs and risks.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans for children and families.
• Provide direct therapeutic interventions, counseling, and support to children and parents.
• Facilitate family reunification services and support where appropriate and safe.
• Coordinate with schools, healthcare providers, legal services, and other agencies to ensure holistic support for clients.
• Conduct home visits and court appearances as required, ensuring child safety and welfare.
• Maintain accurate and timely case notes, progress reports, and other documentation in compliance with agency standards.
• Supervise and mentor junior social workers and interns, providing guidance and professional development.
• Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and agency training sessions.
• Advocate for the rights and needs of children and families within the Gauteng community.
