Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Security Analyst for a leading financial institution in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. You will monitor security alerts, respond to incidents, and drive vulnerability assessments to protect sensitive data.

The role requires 5+ years in cybersecurity, experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm), and knowledge of threats, TTPs, and incident response. You will collaborate with IT teams and contribute to security awareness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in cybersecurity focusing on security operations and incident response.
• Proven experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm).
• Strong understanding of network security concepts, protocols, and technologies.
• Experience with vulnerability assessment tools and methodologies.
• Knowledge of common attack vectors, TTPs, and threat actors.
• Familiarity with endpoint security solutions (antivirus, EDR).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
• Security certifications such as CISSP, CEH, GCIH are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint protection.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents following established procedures.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, reporting weaknesses.
• Analyze security logs and network traffic to detect malicious activity.
• Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Provide recommendations for security improvements and controls.
• Stay informed about cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure configurations and deployments.
• Assist in security awareness training for employees.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of the incident response plan.
