Placements24 in Vereeniging, Gauteng, seeks a Senior RF Planning Engineer to design and optimize RF networks for 2G/3G/4G/5G, driving coverage, capacity and QoS improvements.

You will analyze propagation, perform drive tests, develop frequency plans, and collaborate with deployment teams to translate designs into reality. The role requires 6+ years in RF planning and deep knowledge of GSM, WCDMA, LTE and NR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 6 years of RF planning and optimization for mobile networks.
• In-depth knowledge of GSM, WCDMA, LTE, NR and their RF principles.
• Proficiency with RF planning tools (Atoll, Planet) and drive tests.
• Strong understanding of RF propagation models, antenna theory, and interference analysis.
• Experience with network performance analysis and optimization techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design RF network architecture for new sites and capacity upgrades (2G/3G/4G/5G).
• Perform detailed RF propagation modeling, coverage analysis, and interference assessment.
• Optimize existing RF networks to improve performance, capacity, and quality metrics.
• Develop frequency plans and cell parameter configurations.
• Collaborate with site acquisition and construction teams to ensure efficient deployment.
• Conduct drive tests and analyze results to validate network performance.
• Stay updated on the latest RF technologies, standards, and industry trends.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex RF-related network issues.
