Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Reservoir Engineer for Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. You will manage and optimize hydrocarbon reservoirs, applying advanced simulation, data analysis, and production strategies in a hybrid work setting.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure practices meet SPE standards and regulatory requirements. Port Elizabeth offers a coastal base with growth in Oil & Gas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field; Master's degree desirable.
• 7+ years of reservoir engineering experience in Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency in reservoir simulation software (ECLIPSE, CMG) and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of reservoir engineering principles, fluids, and recovery.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork within cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with reserves estimation (SPE standards).
• Experience in Eastern Cape region is a plus.
• Ability to work in a Hybrid environment with on-site collaboration.

Our client is looking for a Senior Reservoir Engineer to join their esteemed team in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. This critical role involves managing and optimizing hydrocarbon reservoirs to maximize economic recovery. You will apply advanced engineering principles, simulation techniques, and data analysis to understand reservoir behavior, develop production strategies, and manage reservoir performance. This position is ideal for an experienced professional seeking to contribute significantly to the Oil & Gas sector in a key coastal location, working on diverse and challenging reservoir assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed reservoir characterization and performance analysis using geological, geophysical, and engineering data.
• Develop and implement reservoir management plans, including production forecasting and recovery optimization strategies.
• Perform reservoir simulations to evaluate different development scenarios and production enhancement techniques (e.g., EOR, waterflooding).
• Analyze well test data, production logs, and other wellbore information.
• Estimate reserves and resources, preparing technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (geologists, drilling, production engineers) to integrate knowledge and optimize field development.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in reservoir simulation software (e.g., ECLIPSE, CMG) and data analysis tools.
• Solid understanding of reservoir engineering principles, fluid properties, and recovery mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with reserves estimation and reporting (e.g., SPE standards).
