Placements24 is seeking a Senior Renewable Energy Systems Analyst to drive optimization of solar, wind and hybrid projects. This remote role offers the opportunity to shape strategy, build energy models, and deliver actionable insights for our SA clients.

You will collaborate with engineers, project managers and finance experts, stay abreast of policy developments, and mentor junior analysts while contributing to sustainable energy growth from Polokwane and beyond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related quantitative field; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years of renewable energy analysis, system design or energy modeling.
• Experience with energy modeling tools: PVSyst/HOMER/MATLAB.
• Strong knowledge of grid integration and energy market dynamics.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills; remote work capable.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain sophisticated energy system models to simulate performance, identify potential issues, and optimize operational efficiency.
• Analyze large datasets related to energy generation, consumption, and market trends to inform strategic decision-making.
• Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and technical documentation for stakeholders, including management, engineers, and clients.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and finance experts, to ensure project success from concept to completion.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in renewable energy technologies, market regulations, and industry best practices.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior analysts and team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Energy), Physics, or a related quantitative field. A Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in renewable energy analysis, system design, or energy modeling.
• Proven expertise in energy modeling software (e.g., PVSyst, HOMER, MATLAB) and data analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, grid integration, and energy market dynamics.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively in a remote setting.
• Familiarity with South African energy policies and regulatory frameworks is advantageous.
