About the Role Our client, a distinguished international law firm with a robust property law division, is actively seeking an accomplished Senior Real Estate Attorney to join their fully remote team. This role offers the unique opportunity to engage with complex, high-value real estate transactions across South Africa, with a particular focus on the Paarl, Western Cape region's diverse property market. As a remote-first professional, you will provide expert legal counsel on a wide range of real estate matters, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing, financing, and joint ventures. You will manage client relationships, lead deal negotiations, and ensure compliance with all relevant legal frameworks. This position demands exceptional legal acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to excel in a virtual, collaborative environment, supporting clients nationwide while based remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on all facets of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, development, zoning, and financing, serving clients across South Africa.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex real estate agreements, leases, and ancillary documents.
• Conduct comprehensive legal due diligence on properties and transactions, identifying potential risks and liabilities.
• Advise clients on corporate structuring for real estate investments and development projects.
• Manage client portfolios and build strong, lasting relationships through exceptional service and communication.
• Collaborate effectively with internal legal teams, external counsel, and other transaction stakeholders in a virtual setting.
• Stay abreast of legislative changes and legal precedents impacting real estate law nationwide, with an emphasis on practices relevant to Paarl and Western Cape.
• Mentor junior associates and contribute to the firm's knowledge base in real estate law.
• Ensure strict adherence to professional ethics and firm policies.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 7 years of post-admission experience in commercial real estate law.
• Proven track record of successfully managing sophisticated real estate transactions, including large-scale developments and portfolio deals.
• In-depth knowledge of property law, contract law, corporate law, and financing regulations in South Africa.
• Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Strong understanding of the Western Cape property market, including Paarl, is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple complex matters simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines in a remote work environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-centric approach.
