Job summary

Placements24 is helping a client in Port Elizabeth recruit a meticulous Quantity Surveyor to drive cost estimation, tendering, contract administration and financial control on high-rise construction projects. The role blends office planning with site engagement in a hybrid work model.

You will collaborate with project managers, contractors and clients to keep projects financially sound, whilst identifying value opportunities and managing risk across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
• Professional qualification (e.g., SACQSP) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with significant exposure to high-rise projects.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of contract law and construction economics.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities for high-rise construction projects.
• Manage tendering processes, including pre-qualification of contractors and tender evaluations.
• Administer construction contracts, including variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Monitor and control project costs, providing regular financial reports and forecasts.
• Conduct site visits to assess progress and verify valuations.
• Identify and advise on cost-saving opportunities and risk management strategies.
