Job summary

Ioco is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to join a Payments Engineering team in Johannesburg on a hybrid model. You will automate UI, API, and messaging tests, validate ISO 8583 flows, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines to improve overall quality.

You will work with Playwright, Karate, SoapUI, Postman, and monitoring tools to ensure rapid feedback and robust payment processing validation across ATM, POS, and eCommerce channels.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and implementing automated test frameworks for UI, API and messaging layers.
• Proficient with Playwright for UI automation; Selenium/UFT for legacy UI.
• Experience with API automation using Karate and API testing tools such as SoapUI and Postman.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 8583 messaging, MTI, field validations, and transaction flows.
• CI/CD integration and production monitoring using platforms like Harness and Zabbix.
• Payments domain experience and card-payments knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites across UI, API and messaging layers.
• Build UI automation using Playwright; utilize Selenium/UFT for legacy systems as needed.
• Develop API automation suites using Karate and enable parallel execution, mocks, and maintainability.
• Validate end-to-end card transaction lifecycles: authorization, reversals, settlements.
• Test ISO 8583 messages: MTI, field validation, transformations, response behavior.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD (Harness) and establish quality gates.
• Use production telemetry to drive quality improvements and observability.
• Collaborate on test strategy and improve automation adoption across teams.
