Job summary

Pype, a leading South African fintech, is hiring a QA engineer to own quality across payment products. You will join a cross-functional team to design test strategy, automate, and ensure release quality from early in the delivery cycle.

Work closely with developers, product owners and business analysts to build robust API, web and backend tests, integrate tests into CI/CD, and drive quality improvements as the team scales in a dynamic fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software QA experience, with at least 2 years in test automation.
• Strong API testing experience using Postman, REST Assured or equivalent.
• Hands-on with automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium or Cypress.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Solid SQL skills for test data setup and backend validation.
• Experience in Agile or Scrum teams and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain automated test suites for APIs, web front ends, and backend services.
• Build and run test plans for new features and regression cycles.
• Test payment flows end-to-end, including bank integrations and merchant callbacks.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure releases are checked.
• Participate in refinement to clarify acceptance criteria and identify risk.
• Log, track, and verify defects; report on quality and release readiness.
• Contribute to performance and security testing where needed.
• Help improve QA processes and tooling as the team scales.

They are growing their engineering team and want a QA engineer who can own quality across their payment products.

About the role

You will join a cross-functional product team and take responsibility for test strategy, automation and release quality. The role suits someone who wants to move testing earlier in the delivery cycle, build automation that the team relies on, and challenge requirements before code is written. You will work closely with developers, product owners and business analysts.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain automated test suites for APIs, web front ends and backend services
• Build and run test plans for new features, integrations and regression cycles
• Test payment flows end to end, including bank integrations, merchant callbacks and failure scenarios
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines so every release is checked before it reaches production

What you'll bring
