Boardroom Appointments is seeking a Senior Project Manager for SMEIP projects in mining and heavy industrial sectors. You will lead multidisciplinary teams from initiation through commissioning and handover, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery.

The role requires a strong engineering background, extensive project controls experience and willingness to travel to remote site locations across Africa. You will partner with clients and subcontractors to optimise commercial performance.

• Must have a recognised engineering degree (Mech/Elec/Structural) or related field.
• Professional registration as Pr.CPM SACPCMP is essential to practice on SMEIP projects; ECSA registration is advantageous.

Senior Project Manager – SMEIP (Mining & Heavy Industrial Projects)

A leading engineering and construction organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – SMEIP to lead the successful delivery of multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects within the mining and heavy industrial sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for a results-driven professional who thrives in complex project environments and enjoys leading high-performing teams from project initiation through to commissioning and handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution and successful delivery of SMEIP projects.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resources and project risks.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
• Ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, client and SHEQ requirements.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers and overall commercial performance.
• Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships.
• Drive projects through commissioning, completion and final handover.
• Deliver projects safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or BTech in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural or a related Engineering discipline.
• Professional registration as a Pr.CPM (SACPCMP) is essential.
• ECSA registration (Pr. Eng. or Pr. Tech. Eng.) will be advantageous.
• Minimum 10 years' engineering and construction experience.
• At least 7 years' experience managing SMEIP projects.
• Proven experience delivering Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Piping projects.
• Strong commercial, contractual, planning and cost management experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work on remote project sites.
