About the Role

Our client, a leading global pharmaceutical company dedicated to advancing healthcare, is seeking a dynamic Senior Program Manager to lead their Clinical Operations division. This on-site role is based in the vibrant city of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, ZA . You will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of clinical trials, ensuring their successful execution from planning through to completion. This involves managing budgets, timelines, resources, and cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in clinical operations management, a deep understanding of drug development, and exceptional leadership and strategic planning abilities. Your role will be critical in driving the timely and efficient delivery of life-changing therapies to patients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans for a portfolio of clinical programs and trials.
• Manage all aspects of clinical trial execution, including site selection, monitoring, data management, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead and mentor cross-functional clinical operations teams, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Oversee clinical trial budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial targets.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with clinical programs.
• Serve as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners, including CROs and investigators.
• Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH guidelines, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
• Drive process improvements and implement best practices in clinical operations.
• Manage vendor relationships and performance, ensuring quality and efficiency.
• Prepare and present program updates and reports to senior management.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Life Sciences, Pharmacy) or equivalent experience. Advanced degree or PMP certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in clinical operations management within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Proven track record of successfully managing multiple complex clinical trials and programs.
• In-depth knowledge of clinical trial phases, processes, and regulatory requirements (GCP, ICH).
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent financial management and budgeting capabilities.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing CROs and other clinical vendors.
• Proficiency in clinical trial management systems (CTMS) and electronic data capture (EDC) systems.
• Ability to work effectively in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
