Job summary

The City of Cape Town is seeking a seasoned professional to lead strategic plans and road maps to improve the business climate in the metro. You will work within the Economic Growth, Economic Development and Investment directorate to deliver objectives through the corporate policy process.

You will conduct analyses, monitor initiatives, report on performance, and foster collaboration with internal teams, business communities and government agencies.

Qualifications

• 3-year tertiary qualification preferably a B-Degree or National Diploma.
• 5-8 years relevant experience in economic development or business climate improvement.
• Code B driver’s license.
• MS Office literacy.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic plans and road maps for improving the business climate in Cape Town, engaging with corporate policy direction.
• Conduct thorough analysis using analytical tools to identify systemic issues hindering business-facing services’ efficiency.
• Plan, manage, monitor and evaluate activities to deliver outputs and outcomes.
• Foster strong relationships with internal teams, business communities, industry associations, and government agencies to collaborate on business climate initiatives.
• Maximise the municipality’s business understanding and apply sound management practices to achieve financing goals.
• Monitor effectiveness of initiatives, analyse data and prepare reports on performance.
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices and regulatory changes relevant to business climate improvement.
• Provide directorate level contract management support as an appointed Contract Manager.

Key Performance Areas:

• Develop strategic plans and road maps for improving the business climate in Cape Town, making use of the City’s corporate policy process where necessary and engage with corporate policy direction, outlining objectives, timelines and resource requirements.
• Conduct thorough analysis using various analytical tools and methodologies to identify systemic issues hindering businessfacing services’ efficiency.
• Plan, manage, monitor and evaluate specific activities to deliver the desired outputs and outcomes.
• Foster strong relationships with internal teams, business communities, industry associations, and government agencies to collaborate effectively on business climate improvement initiatives.
• Maximise the municipality’s business senses and display a sound business understanding in applying the most effective management practices to achieve municipal financing goals and objectives.
• Monitor the effectiveness of implemented initiatives, analyze data and feedback and prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on the performance of business climate improvements efforts.
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes relevant to business climate improvement through ongoing research and learning activities.
• Provide directorate level contract management support for assigned contracts as an appointed Contract Manager, in line with the Contract Management Framework and guide, City Policy, relevant legislative and as per delegated authority.
