Job summary

Lula in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Product Owner to validate ideas, manage the backlog, and partner with engineering to deliver features on the Credit Platform.

You will collaborate with business stakeholders and operations to ensure timely, high-quality releases, applying lean MVP principles and agile practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a relevant field or equivalent.
• Product owner certification an added bonus.
• 5+ years experience as a Product Owner, ideally with credit experience.
• Experience with platform/backend projects.
• Managing and building out a backlog with a focus on iterative and continuous delivery.
• Hands-on experience working with Engineering teams in an Agile environment.
• Experience building products iteratively by applying lean principles and focusing on MVPs.
• Understanding of agile development process.
• Technical acumen and genuine passion for technology.
• Understanding of core concepts related to UI/UX design.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate business ideas by assessing business value and urgency.
• Develop business cases with business teams and senior product team members to determine commercial, operational and technical feasibility of ideas.
• Managing the product backlog, prioritizing in line with business objectives by determining and managing budget, scope and time constraints.
• Overseeing the development of our products by playing a key role in planning.
• Stakeholder management - you are the link between stakeholders and our Engineering team, ensuring buy-in and the delivery of clear instructions and deliverables for our Developers.
• Adopting a mindset of product iteration, responsible for evaluating progress at each stage of the development process.

OVERALL PURPOSE

You'll work alongside various business stakeholders to validate and document requirements for the engineering team to execute against, and collaborate closely with business operations to ensure successful delivery and business readiness for new features of our Credit Platform.

The role works very closely with our Engineering team to manage our product backlog, remove blockers and adapt to ensure that we deliver a best-in-class product to our customers. Collaboration with our Delivery Teams will also be important to ensure the timely, reliable delivery of Lula products.

You'll be successful in the role if you are able to build strong working relationships with business stakeholders and inspire our Engineering team to deliver top-class solutions within well defined timelines.
