Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and implementation of advanced chemical processes in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. The role blends in-office collaboration with targeted remote work, with an emphasis on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

You will drive process simulations, P&ID development, and risk assessments while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with operations, maintenance, and R&D teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive process engineering experience in petrochemical or chemical manufacturing.
• Experience with process simulation software such as Aspen Plus or HYSYS and P&ID development.
• Familiarity with safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA) and risk assessment methodologies.

Responsabilités

• Lead design, development, and implementation of complex chemical processes with emphasis on safety and efficiency.
• Perform process simulations, P&ID development, and HAZOP studies to identify risks.
• Analyze plant performance data and implement optimization strategies.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and R&D to meet project goals.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and guide technical teams.
• Ensure compliance with environmental standards and company policies.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and project proposals.
• Manage process engineering aspects of capital projects from concept to commissioning.
