Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Process Development Scientist to advance our client's biopharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities in Nelspruit. This role focuses on designing experiments, scaling processes from lab to production, and ensuring robust, compliant operations.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's or Ph.D. in chemical/biochemical engineering or biotechnology, with 5+ years in biopharma process development, bioreactor operation, cell culture, filtration, and PAT/SPC

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development for biopharmaceuticals or related industries.
• Proven experience with bioreactor operation, cell culture, fermentation, or purification technologies.
• Strong understanding of process analytical technology (PAT) and statistical process control (SPC).

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize upstream and downstream bioprocesses for therapeutic proteins or other biologics.
• Design and execute experiments to characterize process parameters and establish design space.
• Scale up processes from laboratory to pilot plant and ultimately to manufacturing scale.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during process development and implementation.
• Author comprehensive process development reports and technology transfer documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality control, and regulatory affairs teams to ensure successful product implementation.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Development Scientist to enhance their manufacturing capabilities in Nelspruit . This critical role focuses on developing, optimizing, and scaling up manufacturing processes for novel biopharmaceutical products. You will be responsible for designing experimental studies, troubleshooting process issues, and ensuring processes are robust, reproducible, and meet stringent quality standards. The ideal candidate has a strong background in bioprocess engineering or chemical engineering, combined with a passion for bringing life-saving therapies from the lab to commercial production, contributing to a highly skilled technical team.
