Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Development Engineer for our Richards Bay site in KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on optimising and scaling chemical processes to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable production.

You will design, implement and validate new process technologies, work with R&D and operations, and drive scale-up from lab to commercial production. A strong background in process simulation and P&ID development is essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in chemical process development/engineering.
• Experience in scale-up, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• On-site at Richards Bay facility.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical manufacturing processes for products.
• Conduct pilot plant studies and scale-up activities.
• Use process simulation software to model performance.
• Develop P&IDs and SOPs for new processes.
• Troubleshoot process issues to maintain quality.
• Implement PSM principles and perform hazard analyses (HAZOP).
• Collaborate with R&D, operations, maintenance, and EHS.
• Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
• Keep up with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
