About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Process Control Engineer to enhance the automation and control strategies of their chemical facilities in Upington . This role is critical for optimizing process stability, efficiency, and safety through the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced control systems. You will work closely with process engineers and operations teams to ensure our automated systems are state-of-the-art and effectively support production goals. This is a key technical position offering significant influence over operational performance in the Northern Cape region.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and commission advanced process control (APC) strategies and systems.
• Develop and maintain control logic, loop tuning, and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
• Troubleshoot complex control system issues and optimize existing control loops for improved performance.
• Collaborate with process engineers to define control requirements for new projects and process modifications.
• Develop documentation for control systems, including P&IDs, control narratives, and logic diagrams.
• Provide training and technical support to operations and maintenance personnel on control systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering , Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process control engineering, preferably in the chemical industry.
• Proficiency with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Strong understanding of process dynamics, feedback control theory , and advanced control techniques.
• Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61511).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
