Job summary

First Recruitment Group is seeking Senior/Principal Electrical Engineers to lead complex electrical engineering activities on a major UK nuclear programme in Warrington. You will provide senior-level expertise, act as a workstream lead, and interface with regulators throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable UK nuclear sector experience and strong safety culture.
• Proven interface with nuclear regulators and regulators' processes.
• Experience delivering safety and process-related substantiation of electrical designs.
• Ability to capture and manage requirements for complex projects.
• Experience addressing 60Hz and 50Hz transition in market designs.
• Ability to lead and coordinate across disciplines and workstreams.

Our Client has a requirement for Senior/Principal Electrical Engineers, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Warrington.

Role Purpose:

• Provide senior-level electrical engineering expertise on a major nuclear programme
• Act as a workstream lead or senior subject matter expert within multidisciplinary teams
• Support safety, security and environmental substantiation of electrical equipment designs
• Engage with regulators, stakeholders and project teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Deliver electrical engineering solutions from concept through to detailed design

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Lead electrical engineering activities
• Chair technical meetings and interface with nuclear regulators
• Support and challenge ALARP assessments where required
• Develop strategies, plans and designs to support transition between 60Hz and 50Hz electrical systems
• Ensure adherence to relevant electrical codes, standards and Grid Code requirements
• Provide expertise across safety and non-safety related electrical systems
• Interface effectively with Instrumentation and Control disciplines
• Support requirements capture and management processes
• Deliver Intelligent Customer core capability across assigned workstreams
• Contribute to electrical design development covering reactor, turbine and balance of plant systems, including design modifications and improvements
• Support the application of graded approaches to quality assurance

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Demonstrable experience within the UK nuclear sector
• Strong safety culture and commitment to nuclear industry standards
• Proven experience interfacing with nuclear regulators
• Experience covering safety, security and environmental substantiation of electrical equipment design
• Good understanding of requirements capture and management
• Experience in addressing 60Hz designs in 50Hz markets (and vice versa)
• Experience assessing adherence to, and derogations from, Grid Code requirements for generating plant
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering codes and standards
• Experience interfacing with Instrumentation and Control disciplines
• Understanding of graded approaches to QA
• Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• BPSS clearance, or ability to obtain BPSS clearance
