Placements24 is seeking a Principal Chemical Engineer with specialized expertise in polymerization processes to lead the design, development and optimization of advanced polymer production technologies. This senior role serves as the primary technical authority on polymerization, guiding projects from concept through commercial implementation at our Centurion, Gauteng operations.

Responsibilities

Provide expert technical leadership in the design and optimization of industrial polymerization processes.
Lead the development of new polymerization technologies, including reactor design, catalyst selection, and process control strategies.
Conduct in-depth techno-economic evaluations and feasibility studies for new polymer products and processes.
Oversee process hazard analyses (PHAs) and ensure the implementation of robust safety protocols for polymerization units.
Develop and maintain advanced process models and simulations to enhance understanding and efficiency.
Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical consultant to R&D, manufacturing, and engineering teams.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in polymer science and engineering globally, identifying opportunities for competitive advantage.
Troubleshoot complex operational issues related to polymerization processes and equipment.
