A leading retail group in South Africa is seeking a Merchandise Planner to manage and implement merchandise strategies effectively. The role requires substantial experience in merchandise planning, strong analytical skills, and the ability to influence strategies at all levels. The ideal candidate should be resilient and possess excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven track record in fast-paced environments. Key Responsibilities
Influencing and implementing the FIX brand’s merchandise strategy.
Financial and strategic management of the various products, including product planning, controlling open-to-buy, and reviewing weekly & monthly figures.
Management of the range assortments on a Quick responds model.
Management and implementation of distribution strategy, including analysing store profiles & sales trends, developing promotional & range distribution by store & cluster.
Communication with stores and field teams.
Qualifications And Experience
A high degree of numeracy and analytical thinking.
Proven working experience as a Merchandise Planner (minimum 5 years).
Trader mentality, business acumen, and entrepreneurial thinking.
The ability to think and operate at a strategic level.
A detailed and methodical approach to work.
Ability to make decisions and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, pressurized environment.
Resilience and emotional maturity.
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
Confidence in influencing and persuading at all levels.
Computer literacy in Word, Excel, and related planning systems.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Ability to work effectively individually and within a team.
