Curro is seeking a Senior Phase Head for The Kings School, Linbro Park, to commence duties in January 2027. The Senior phase head will manage phase administration and ensure high standards of teaching and learning within the Curro and IEB curricula.

The role includes teaching and coordinating subjects, planning assessments and rosters, mentoring grade heads, handling budgeting and events, and upholding school policies with strong communication and leadership.

Qualifications

• BEd, BA or BSc with PGCE in Senior, with a management diploma advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a departmental head; experience as grade/subject head advantageous.
• Knowledge of the IEB curriculum.
• Proven management and leadership skills; ability to mentor other teachers.
• Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends and participate in school activities.

Responsabilités

• Teach duties: plan lessons, set up workbooks, measure academic progress.
• Manage phase administration and academics: annual/termly plans, timetables, staff duties, budgeting.
• Manage phase curriculum via reviews, checks and moderation.
• Plan and manage assessments and homework, including rosters and moderation.
• Mentor grade heads: interviews, appraisals, mediation.
• Manage interventions and discipline per Curro policies and code of conduct.
• Plan and manage events and classroom/learning environment design.

Curro is seeking to appoint an Senior phase head at The Kings School in Linbro Park. The Senior head is responsible for managing all phase administration through the effective application of Curro policies and procedures as adapted and customised to the needs of the school. To ensure high standards of teaching and learning practice, the Senior phase head is also responsible for the active teaching, knowledge transfer, skills development and growth of positive attitudes among learners through integrated and focused teaching approaches and dialogue with teachers. In addition, the role involves teaching and coordinating specific subjects as per the Curro and IEB curricula for the Senior phase.

Key performance areas

• Perform teaching duties, including planning lessons using modern-day tools and processes, setting up workbooks and measuring academic improvement and achievement
• Manage the phase administration and academics, including annual and termly plans and timetables, staff duties, tutoring classes, communication, scholarships and budgeting
• Manage the phase curriculum via pre- and post-rollout reviews, checks and moderation
• Plan and manage assessments (formal and continuous) and homework, including rosters, moderation, revision and supervision
• Manage and mentor grade heads, including interviews, appraisals and mediation
• Manage interventions and discipline according to Curro policies and procedures and the code of conduct
• Plan and manage events
• Plan and manage classroom/learning environment design and set-up for optimal performance

Qualifications, experience and skills

• BEd, BA, or BSc degree and/or PGCE in Senior, with a management diploma advantageous
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a departmental head, with experience as a grade or subject head advantageous
• Knowledge of the IEB curriculum
• Proven management and leadership skills
• Ability to lead and mentor other teachers
• Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills
• Willing and able to work overtime and weekends and to be involved in school activities
