Formación

• MSc or PhD in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related life science field.
• 6+ years of experience in pharmaceutical microbiology, preferably GMP.
• Expertise in microbial identification, enumeration, sterility testing and endotoxin testing.
• Strong knowledge of environmental monitoring strategies and microbial risk assessment.
• Experience in method development, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Good understanding of regulatory guidelines and pharmacopoeias.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in Klerksdorp, SA.
• Must be eligible to work in South Africa.

About the Role

Our client, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer, is looking for a highly skilled Senior Pharmaceutical Microbiologist to lead their microbiology laboratory operations in Klerksdorp, North West . This pivotal role involves overseeing all microbiological testing and environmental monitoring activities to ensure product safety and compliance with regulatory standards. The Senior Microbiologist will be responsible for method development, validation, investigation of microbial excursions, and ensuring the integrity of the quality control system. Key Responsibilities

• Lead investigations into microbial contamination excursions and out-of-specification results, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., GMP, ISO 17025) and pharmacopoeial requirements.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, including incubators, autoclaves, and microscopes.
• Train and mentor junior microbiology staff, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and compliance.
• Prepare reports, specifications, and other documentation related to microbiological testing and compliance.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as Quality Assurance and Production, to address microbiological concerns.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related life science field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in pharmaceutical microbiology, preferably within a GMP environment.
• Proven expertise in microbial identification, enumeration techniques, sterility testing, and endotoxin testing.
• Strong knowledge of environmental monitoring strategies and microbial risk assessment.
• Experience in method development, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Excellent understanding of relevant regulatory guidelines and pharmacopoeias.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a laboratory setting in Klerksdorp .
• Must be eligible to work in South Africa.
