Job summary

Dearx in Sandton is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Analyst to bridge business requirements with technical delivery in a banking/payments environment. You will analyze, design and document complex payment systems, DebiCheck processes and related transaction flows.

Responsibilities include translating business needs into functional specs, analysing interfaces, APIs and data mappings, and ensuring alignment with security, compliance and architectural standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Systems Analyst / Senior Systems Analyst in banking or financial services.
• Strong payments experience.
• Hands-on DebiCheck experience.
• Understanding of DebiCheck mandates, collections and payment processing.
• Experience with system integrations and APIs.
• Strong knowledge of REST/SOAP APIs, web services and integration patterns.
• Experience with databases and SQL.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence or similar delivery tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical system requirements.
• Perform systems analysis across complex banking and payment environments.
• Analyse existing systems, interfaces, processes and data flows and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Produce Functional Specifications, System Requirements Specifications and Technical/System Analysis documentation.
• Analyse and document payment flows, transaction processing and integration points.
• Work with DebiCheck processes, mandates, collections and payment transactions.
• Analyse payment messages, interfaces and integrations between internal banking systems and external payment platforms.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects and Technical Leads to align with enterprise architecture.
• Engage with Business Analysts and Product Owners to translate requirements into system-level solutions.
• Conduct impact assessments for system changes and enhancements.
• Investigate production issues and perform root-cause analysis across applications, integrations and databases.
• Define and document system interfaces, data mappings, business rules and processing logic.
• Participate in solution design, technical walkthroughs, sprint planning and refinement sessions.
• Support system integration testing, user acceptance testing and defect resolution.
• Ensure solutions meet banking, security, compliance and operational requirements.
• Produce process flows, sequence diagrams, data-flow diagrams and other technical documentation.
