Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemist specializing in Organic Synthesis to join their Upington R&D center. You will lead design, execution, and optimization of complex synthetic routes for novel compounds, mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to scientific publications.

The role emphasizes collaboration within a team and impactful contributions to materials and pharmaceuticals development in a state-of-the-art facility.

Qualifications

• PhD in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Proven track record designing and executing complex organic syntheses.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute multi-step synthetic pathways for complex organic molecules.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yields, purity, and efficiency.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using advanced analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC, GC).
• Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop innovative solutions.
• Lead and mentor junior chemists on synthesis projects.
• Maintain detailed laboratory records and contribute to technical reports and publications.
