Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemist specializing in Organic Synthesis to join their Upington R&D center. You will lead the design, execution, and optimization of complex synthetic routes for novel compounds and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes mentoring junior chemists, maintaining meticulous records, and contributing to publications and process improvements within a cutting-edge laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in Organic Chemistry or closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Proven track record of designing and executing complex organic syntheses.
• Expertise in modern synthetic methodologies and reaction mechanisms.
• Proficiency with analytical techniques for compound characterization (NMR, MS, Chromatography).

Responsibilities

• Design and execute multi-step synthetic pathways for complex organic molecules.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yields, purity, and efficiency.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using advanced analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC, GC).
• Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop innovative solutions.
• Lead and mentor junior chemists on synthesis projects.
• Maintain detailed laboratory records and contribute to technical reports and publications.
