Placements24 is assisting in finding a Senior Optometrist for an eye care center in Upington. The role involves performing eye examinations, diagnosing and managing eye diseases, and fitting contact lenses and spectacles.

You will work with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and play a key part in delivering exceptional patient care to the local community.

Qualifications

• A degree in Optometry from an accredited institution.
• Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., HPCSA).
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in optometry.
• Proficiency in performing comprehensive eye exams and diagnosing ocular pathologies.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a leading eye care center in Upington , is looking for a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Optometrist to provide comprehensive vision care services. This role involves performing eye examinations, diagnosing and managing eye diseases, fitting contact lenses, and prescribing corrective eyewear. You will be committed to delivering exceptional patient care, utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, and staying at the forefront of optometric advancements. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, refraction, and assessments for eye diseases like glaucoma and cataracts.
• Diagnose and manage a wide range of ocular conditions and systemic diseases affecting vision.
• Prescribe and fit contact lenses , providing instruction on wear and care.
• Prescribe appropriate corrective lenses (spectacles) and advise patients on frame selection.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment such as retinal cameras, visual field analyzers, and OCT scanners.
• Educate patients on eye health, preventative care, and the importance of regular check-ups.

Requirements

• A degree in Optometry from an accredited institution.
• Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., Health Professions Council of South Africa).
• A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in optometry.
• Proficiency in performing comprehensive eye exams and diagnosing ocular pathologies.
• Experience with fitting various types of contact lenses and managing eye conditions.
