The successful candidate will conduct comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose refractive errors, and prescribe corrective lenses. HPCSA registration is required, with willingness to work retail hours including weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Optometry required with HPCSA registration.
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English.
• Willing to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
• Matric completed; valid driver’s license and own vehicle are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and eye health.
• Diagnose refractive errors and ocular conditions; prescribe lenses or contact lenses.
• Fit and manage contact lenses with patient education and follow-ups.
• Provide eyewear and eye-care product recommendations to patients.
• Maintain accurate patient records per HPCSA and company policies.
• Collaborate with retail and clinical teams to achieve service excellence and sales targets.

Minimum requirements

• Completed practical / clinical rotation training

Duties and responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision, eye health, and visual performance
• Diagnose refractive errors and identify ocular conditions and abnormalities
• Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, and appropriate visual solutions
• Fit, assess, and manage contact lenses, including patient education and follow-ups
• Provide professional advice on eyewear, lenses, and eye care products
• Detect and manage ocular diseases within scope of practice and refer patients to ophthalmologists when required
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in compliance with HPCSA and company policies
• Deliver exceptional patient care and customer service to ensure a positive client experience
• Work collaboratively with the retail and clinical team to achieve service excellence and sales targets
• Ensure the optometry practice is compliant with health, safety, and hygiene standards
• Stay updated with industry advancements, clinical guidelines, and continuing professional development requirements
• Support store operations and contribute to the professional image and reputation of the practice

Remuneration

R20 000 - R35 000 CTC Depending on experience
