Job summary

General Heavy Machinery (GHM) seeks an experienced Truck Site Technician to provide on-site maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on heavy-duty trucks. The role is based in Richards Bay and involves extensive field service to meet customer requirements.

You will perform on-site diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs, ensuring safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of heavy-truck experience and can travel as needed within the region.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience working on heavy-duty trucks.
• Proven experience performing field service or site maintenance.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel extensively within Richards Bay and surrounding areas, with occasional travel outside the province if required.
• Currently residing in Richards Bay.
• Valid driver’s licence (Code 10 or Code 14 advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site diagnostics, servicing and repairs on heavy-duty trucks.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and breakdown support at customer sites.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Complete service reports and job cards accurately and on time.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and customer site requirements.
• Maintain tools, equipment and service vehicle in good condition.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional service.
