Job summary

Codematch in Johannesburg East seeks a Senior Natural / ADABAS Developer to design, develop and maintain NATURAL / ADABAS-based solutions.

You will independently evaluate requirements, conduct feasibility studies, document and implement applications across SDLC; experience with Linux, EntireX, and Batch/Online processing required.

This permanent role requires at least 8 years of relevant experience and a strong track record of delivering enterprise solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of software development experience.
• Extensive NATURAL / ADABAS experience.
• Strong experience with Batch and Online processing.
• Ability to work independently from requirements and technical specifications.
• Experience writing and maintaining technical documentation.
• Experience maintaining, enhancing and supporting enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level maintenance and support of NATURAL / ADABAS systems.
• Develop new applications throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Evaluate requirements and determine appropriate technical solutions.
• Conduct technical feasibility studies and detailed systems analysis.
• Execute technical investigations and impact assessments.
• Compile technical solutions and action plans.
• Ensure adherence to standards, procedures and methodologies for the development and maintenance of applications.
• Work independently from requirements and technical specifications.
• Design, develop, test, debug and implement application features and changes.
• Design and implement enhancements to existing applications.
• Identify potential technical issues and contribute to proactive resolution.
• Maintain high-quality application code and technical documentation.
• Assist with application support and incident management.
• Provide documentation relating to enhancements and modifications.
• Assist with system integration and implementation.
• Provide user training where necessary.
• Analyse procedures, processes and information flows required for the effective maintenance of systems.
• Ensure system solutions remain aligned with business strategies and information requirements.
• Participate in activities that support the successful use and adoption of systems.
• Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement of application solutions.
• Perform standby and maintenance duties as required.
